  1. To develop interest and participation throughout Manitoba in the sport and martial art of Taekwondo.

  2. To improve the standards and qualifications of athletes, coaches, officials and to be competitive at National and International levels and events.

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE MANITOBA TAEKWONDO ASSOCIATION INC.

Manitoba Taekwondo Association Inc. is the provincial governing body for the regulation and development of Taekwondo in Manitoba. MTAI’s goal is to encourage grassroots entry into the sport. At this level programs are initiated to promote health and wellness of all members without discrimination.

MTAI organizes and sponsors programs and seminars to improve standards in the development of athletes, coaches and officials. Our competitions and competitor training identify elite athlete potential to represent Manitoba at National Championships, World Championships, Pan Am Games and the Olympics.

  1. To respect and recognize official rankings of grand masters, masters, and black belt members without discrimination of age, sex, race or religion.
  2. To promote safety for participants and competitors.
  3. To promote physical fitness.
  4. To improve standards, recognize promotions and set up rules and regulations.
  5. To develop volunteers, competitors, and coaches.
  6. To certify and recognize referees’ and judges’ qualifications.
  7. To foster discipline, etiquette, respect, self control, positive attitude through training in the martial art of Taekwondo.

KEY STRATEGIES OF THE MANITOBA TAEKWONDO ASSOCIATION INC.
( M.T.A.I )

  1. Organize and deliver referee seminars to improve the standards of officials and competitions in Manitoba. Provincial certification will be offered at three level (Provincial 3rd class, Provincial 2nd class, Provincial 1st Class) which is consistent with the present National level certification classes.
  2. Organize and support participation of MTAI members in the 3M National Coaching Certification Program. The goal is to have coaches attend all levels and work with the Canadian Taekwondo Association to develop coaches to the highest level.
  3. Develop a plan to contact and encourage Taekwondo students who hold black belt certification to register and become members of MTAI.
  4. Develop a formal recognition plan that acknowledges the efforts of volunteers, athletes, coaches and officials.
  5. Develop a plan through the media and the Internet to inform the public of the benefits of training in the martial art and sport of Taekwondo.
  6. Keep amateur athletes involved in Taekwondo informed of domestic and national policy matters and reflect the views of such athletes in its policy decisions.
  7. Encourage physical fitness and improve the quality of both competitive and non-competitive Taekwondo among those who participate solely for the physical, educational and social benefits derived thereof.
